Course Overview
This course covers the economics of cloud storage, including the three rules of storage: capacity, availability, and performance. It also explores the concept of data temperature, which categorizes data into hot, warm, and cold classifications. The course discusses technical value vectors such as latency, IOPS, and throughput, and how they impact storage decision-making. Students will learn about the tradeoffs between different storage solutions and how to choose the most cost-effective and user-centered solutions. The course also covers the evolution of object storage and its role in cloud storage, as well as the importance of considering workloads and data temperature when designing storage architectures.
